In my work I focus on functionality - I design with intent to make interesting, unique, and unexpected interactions between the product and the user, and take inspiration from nature and natural mechanisms. I believe that as a designer I can ask questions to change status quo. Why are sight and touch the main senses for design instead of hearing, smell, or taste? Are touchscreens, buttons, and switches truly the best options for user interfaces? How can a user’s emotional comfort be challenged against accepted standards? Addressing questions such as these pushes me to bring another layer to my work, to explore the boundaries of “acceptable design”.
